Important & Useful Information
“Get The Inside-Scoop!”
Get your hands on information many consumers do not know
and what many carpet cleaners probably do not want you to know!
dry carpet
The Wonderful Convenience of
Authentic DRY Carpet Cleaning Do any of
these sound familiar to you at all the last time you had your carpet cleaned? - Told that the carpet would be dry in a
couple of hours and a couple of days later you were still waiting?
- Had those noisy fans blowing in your
house?
- Spots “re-appeared” after just a couple
of weeks of them being “cleaned”
- There was an unpleasant smell that
seemed to linger after the “cleaning”
- Frustrated
by the stress of keeping (unsuccessfully at times) the family and pets off the
carpet while it “dries”
Well, one wonderful benefit of many when having your carpet cleaned via Dry
Extraction is that you will NEVER have to experience these kinds of things!
Our
clients have repeated attested to the wonderful benefits our having
their carpets cleaned with Advanced Dry extraction system. Check out what some of our clients are saying.
Detergent
Abuse!!!
Yep...it sounds ridiculous, until you realize how it’s the
#1 reason for those ‘re-appearing’ spots and why carpet ‘uglies
out’!
You would call us crazy if we told you the next time you clean your clothes
they would be damaged by the soap and that the spots would actually reappear!
But, when we are talking about carpet and the detergent cleaners that
are so often used to clean carpet, it is not such a crazy thing after
all.
Many wet carpet cleaning methods and carpet spotting products can leave
detergent residue in the carpet. This is “unhealthy” for your
carpet for one major reason: Detergent, otherwise known as soap, is fundamentally
designed to attract dirt and soil. If any amount is left in the carpet
it will continue to do what it was designed to do…attract dirt and
soil. Simply put, your carpet becomes a dirt magnet!
WARNING! The detergent
residue can attract new soil, trigger rapid re-soiling, cause carpets
to "ugly out" and become matted down. When you have had your
carpet cleaned by wet extraction, it also causes the carpet to take much
longer to dry.
“Next to dirt and soil, detergent residue is the most common thing
we run into when we first clean carpet.” - John Gilmore, Managing
Partner of Advanced DRY® Carpet.
We at Advanced DRY® Carpet use cleaning products that
are not only “detergent free”, they are healthy for people
(and for carpet) as well.
Wetter isn’t Better!
We want to state right off the bat, that we are NOT saying water
is, in itself, a bad thing. Actually, it is the best natural cleaner in
the world. Our issue is this: The overwhelming evidence proves that heavy
amounts of water typically used to clean carpet, by most conventional
systems, is literally unhealthy for the life and look of the carpet. Compare
the Difference
Paul Lackey, a 20 year veteran flooring installer and owner of Lackey's
Floor Covering comments,
"I have lost count
on how many times I have seen carpet ruined or damaged by over-wetting
that can come from using wet extractors. There
have been many times that we have replaced carpet much sooner than it
should have been because of repeated wet extraction use. I only recommend an authentic DRY extraction system for cleaning carpet .”
All you need to do is Compare the Difference
in results between conventional wet carpet cleaning and our Advanced DRY®
system.
Important HEALTH Information
Using heavy amounts of water to clean carpet can have real affects
on the health of people and pets. When water is pressured through the
back of the carpet, into the padding, high level’s of humidity can
increase the likelihood of stimulating the growth of mold and/or mildew
and other unhealthy bacteria.
Advanced DRY® Carpet is passionate about providing clean
carpet that is healthy for people and healthy for carpet. One great benefit
of our Advanced DRY® system is the products we use. Unlike
most carpet cleaning systems, our core product has been repeatedly tested
to prove how many allergens are removed from just one cleaning.
Just One Cleaning Removes:
Dust mites by 78%
Dust mite allergen 89%
Cat allergen by 85%
Mold spores by 97%
Don’t Wait Until Its Too Late!
Carpet can get dirty long before you can actually see the dirt
and soil. Actually, when you can see the dirt and/or soil on the carpet
it is often already in the process of being permanently damaged.
Treating Spills & Spots
(Except human or animal fluids – see “Treating Human &
Animal Waste”)
Step ONE:
Absorb the spill by blot liquids with a dry, white absorbent cloth or
plain white paper towels (no prints or colors). Use of a printed or
colored material may transfer ink or dye to your damp carpet. Start
at the outside of the spot and continue toward the center to prevent
the stain from spreading. Continue step one until the area is barely
damp. Semisolids, like food spills, may need to be scooped up with a
spoon. Solid, dried bits can be vacuumed up. Warning :do
not scrub or use a brush. Scrubbing and brushes can damage the
carpet. Fraying and texture change is the likely result.
Step TWO: Treat the spot or stain using our recommended carpet cleaning product.
Always pretest any cleaner on a scrap of carpet or in a hidden area of
your carpet first. If you you do not own one of our
detergent-free products and must use what you have, make sure you spray it on a towel and then dab lightly with the towel.
In other words, do not spray the remover directly on the carpet, even
though the directions typically tell you to do so. The best thing you
can do, however, is to throw the stuff out and follow number 3. Follow
the product’s directions carefully. Apply a small amount of the
cleaner to a white cloth and work in gently, from the edges to the
center. Blot; don’t scrub. You may need to do this several times to
remove the spot. When
cleaning stains and spills, don’t become overzealous. Mix the cleaning
solutions according to the directions. In truth, more is not better.
Don’t use too much water; try to keep the carpet as dry as possible.
And always remember to pretest the product on an inconspicuous spot of
carpet.
Step THREE: Be prepared with non-resoiling, non-toxic cleaners by looking over our carpet cleaning supplies you can get from us and give us a call to order what you need. Have Your Carpet Regularly Cleaned By A Professional. Being
consistent with having your carpets cleaned on a regular basis is vital
to ensuring their maximum life and appearance. While purchasing a
better-quality carpet should lead to greater value over time, failure
to invest in a proactive carpet maintenance plan can cause premature
carpet replacement. Most carpet “uglies out” before it wears out, which
is a direct result of inadequate maintenance. Good maintenance helps
you protect your carpet investment.
HELP! I have a pet accident! NEW! Go to our Pet Owners Guide!
Treating human and animal “accidents” can be a very
challenging task. We strongly recommend that you perform this ONLY if
you thoroughly follow the instructions and if the spill is relatively
small. We encourage you to call us for these situations; we would be happy
to walk you through any aspect of treatment.
Important: TIMING IS CRITICAL!!! When it comes to using enzymes (if you
need to purchase some give us a call), please be aware that they are most
effective within the first 24 to 48 hours after the accident. If you are
treating a spot beyond this time frame, please give us a call.
1. Try to get as much of the substance off the carpet with very little
agitation, by picking up the contents or by blotting the area with a dry
white towel.
2. If needed, you can then spray a little warm water from a spray bottle
onto the area and continue blotting with a dry white towel.
Note: Never add moisture to dry materials. This usually spreads the problem
and makes it more difficult to clean up.
3. When you can no longer get any of the waste up with the warm water
and dry white towel, apply our “non-resoiling” spot cleaner
to clean out additional waste and soil. Very little of our spot cleaning
solution should be used. Test the cleaning solution on a small area and
see if you get any spot transfer onto your dry white towel. (If you are
not seeing any transfer, then the cleaning solution will not work, even
if applied heavily.)
Important: If at all possible, always apply spotter to towel,
NOT directly to the spill itself.
4. When little to no waste or soil transfers to a towel, spray a generous
amount of enzyme or neutralizing product directly onto the area. We can
provide these products if needed. Leave the solution on the area to eliminate
any remaining contaminants. These odor-neutralizing chemicals destroy
or control micro-organisms (bacteria and fungi). The success of these
odor neutralizers depends on the level of urine saturation.
We may be able to neutralize a large portion of the odor to make the smells
minimal, if not obsolete. However, urine can spread down to the backing
of the carpet, the pad, and the sub-flooring. If this is the case, it
may be necessary to get under the carpet and take care of the source.
This may require removing the pad and cleaning the back of the carpet
and sub-floor. Most of the time, we are able to treat the problem areas
and get the best possible result, short of doing carpet repair work. Depending
on the amount of urine or feces contamination, it may be impossible for
you to rinse out the areas well enough to ensure that the bacteria and
other contaminants won't be harmful to your environment. If this is a
concern, please give us a call.
“I’ve heard that the ‘dry’
systems out there don’t clean very well? What makes your system
different?”
There is truth to this. There are some so-called “dry”
systems that can be very ineffective at cleaning. Our system is far from
these systems. We use a powerful dual-cleaning formula that utilizes two
revolutionary cleaning products: One is an organic cleaning compound that
literally absorbs dirt and soil from the carpet fibers, and the other
is a crystallizing product that actually traps the dirt and soil in microscopic
crystals and then is extracted out of the carpet. In tandem with our unique
low moisture carpet extractors, these two primary cleaning products make
for the most powerful deep-cleaning formula for carpet anywhere. No fans
blowing, no spots coming back, no musty smells, just clean DRY carpet.
“Is the process you use safe for my kids
and pets?”
The simple answer is, there is just is no safer or healthier approach
to carpet cleaning anywhere on the face of the planet (ok, maybe we are
overstating a little…let’s just say anywhere we know of).
I hope you get the point. Our unique process incorporates 100% biodegradable
and organic products that have proven to be healthy for people, pets,
the environment, and even your indoor environment.
“OK...Really! How often should I get my carpet
cleaned?”
I wish there was a simple answer to this, but the answer can vary
a lot according to a few key conditions. Most carpet manufacturers recommend
that you clean your carpets at least once every 12 to 18 months to ensure
lasting healthy fabric. Because there are so many variables involved to
answer this adequately, we decided to come up with a simple rule for anyone
to follow.
Advanced DRY® Carpet Rule of Thumb:
The more you have of these - kids, pets, parties etc. - AND the
less you do of this - vacuum, take off shoes etc. - you’ll want
to consider having them cleaned more often than once per year.
“Does carpet protector really work?”
The simple answer is YES, but a detailed explanation is necessary.
Commonly known as 3MScotchgard® or DuPont Teflon®,
this treatment helps keep spills from actually getting to the acid dye
blocker that is in the carpet fiber (carpets natural line of defense against
stains), but its other role is to resist dry soil. By resisting dry soil,
less soil bonds to the carpet, therefore being picked up by your vacuum
or cleaning. Making sure that you have a sufficient amount of protector
on your carpet will help keep the soil from bonding to the carpet. Once
it bonds to the carpet, it acts like sandpaper on your traffic area. Once
the traffic area yarns are broken down, there is no way to bring them
back to their original state.
Our Opinion:
Though it is not typically ‘harmful’, chemically sensitive people should consider consulting a doctor first
before having it applied.
Personal Carpet Care 101 One
of the most common reasons why we see many consumers frustrated with
how their carpet either looks and/or is cleaned is a simply lack of
information. We’re quite passionate about educating our clients and
dispel misinformation that is out there as well, so here is what we
call Personal Carpet Care 101.
Vacuum, Vacuum, Vacuum. Why?
Because 85% of cleaning your carpet is vacuuming. Believe it or not,
the real key to keeping your carpet looking good all the time is to
vacuum often, at least two to three times a week. Vacuuming can remove
as much as 85% of the dry soil in a carpet, especially the soil in the
high traffic areas. Thorough vacuuming in high traffic areas will go a
long way toward keeping the traffic lanes from getting matted and worn.
Vacuum cleaning can add years of life to your carpet.
Treat Spills Properly. There’s a WRONG way and a RIGHT way to treat spills and spots on our carpet.
The WRONG Way — Wet carpet cleaning methods, including many spot removers you buy in the store, leave detergent residue
in carpet. After carpet is “cleaned,” the water evaporates from the
cleaning solution and the detergent dries and re-crystallizes within
and throughout carpet fibers. The RIGHT Way
— The key is to act quickly! The longer you wait, the higher the
probability that a spill will become a permanent stain. No carpet is
completely stainproof. (See the steps on treating spots here!) Use Walk-Off Mats As
much as possible, use walk-off mats or area rugs at all entrances to
absorb soil and moisture. Clean mats regularly so they don't become
sources of soil themselves.
Move Furniture Move
heavy furniture occasionally to avoid excessive pile crushing. Put
coasters intended for use with carpet under the legs of tables, chairs,
and other furniture to help distribute the weight and prevent mashing
the pile. Do not use chairs or appliances with rollers or casters on
carpet without a chair pad designed for carpet. Continued use without a
chair pad can cause damage to the carpet.
Guard from Sunlight Protect your carpet from prolonged periods of direct sunlight with blinds, shades, or awnings.
Make Sure Your Carpet Has Stain Protection:
Over time the original stain protection wears off on the carpet
and will need to be re-applied by a professional carpet cleaner.
Carpets with stain resistant treatments improve your ability to clean,
not prevent, stains. No carpet is stain proof. (more information here)
We Have Seen It Too Many
Times!
Far too often we have seen carpet replaced much sooner than it should
have been. As a result, a large amount of money is spent unnecessarily
on new carpet or flooring. We often see that carpet and upholstery
are managed solely on an “emergency” basis – it
gets cleaned only when it looks dirty.
Not only will other carpet cleaners charge you a premium
price to clean them, you will find that you will have to endure
the cost of replacing the carpet much sooner than expected. |
Why Advanced DRY®
Carpet Is The Best Choice For Your Company
Carpet Maintenance is the secret to keeping your carpet looking and performing
its best for years to come. While purchasing a better-quality carpet should
lead to greater value over time, failure to invest in a proactive carpet
maintenance program can cause premature carpet replacement. Most carpet
“uglies” out before it wears out, which is a direct result
of poor or inadequate maintenance. Good maintenance helps you protect
your carpet investment.
Unmatched Convenience
Wherever we go, people are often amazed that they can actually use their
carpet right after we have cleaned them. Whether, we clean after you have
closed, before you open or even during work hours, we have done it all.
The inconvenience of having musty smells, fans blowing or even the possibility
of someone slipping on wet carpet can be a thing of the past with Advanced
DRY® Carpet.
We Can Really Save You Money
Over the years we have proven that having you carpets DRY cleaned
extends the life and look of carpet better than ANY system ANYWHERE. In
addition, investing in a proactive carpet maintenance program will prevent
the unwanted expense of premature carpet replacement.
Breathe Better!
Because people spend 90% of their time indoors at work and at home
and the fact that the EPA states that the air indoor is 2 to 5 times worse
than outdoor air, the air we breath is a critical factor to our health.
Carpet does an excellent job trapping vast amounts of indoor pollutants
that could be otherwise stirred up into the air we breathe. Our system
significantly removes many of these indoor pollutants.
In addition, we use a 100% organic and biodegradable cleaning product
to ensure a safe and healthy workplace. When we clean your carpet, you
can assure your employees and clients that important measures are taken
to ensure a healthy work environment for them.
The two charts below illustrate this phenomenon. In Chart A,
you can see that with preventative maintenance, the overall appearance
declines slowly, unlike the significantly greater loss with corrective
maintenance. Chart B shows how planned maintenance costs
are steady and predictable, while corrective maintenance costs show sharp
fluctuations which are, on average, equal to or greater than the preventative
costs.

Floor Care Inspection and Assessment: Check matting and wear level, moisture
levels, detergent saturation levels, UV light inspection for odor-causing
elements and detailed recommendations to maximize the life and look of
your flooring. Our Commitment to You and To Integrity
For
some time, carpet cleaners just do not have a very high confidence
rating in the minds of the average consumer. This lack of
confidence, has sadly, been well deserved. The reason for this is
because of the many different questionable, unethical and sometimes
even out-right illegal practices by carpet cleaners.
